A health centre, offices and homes will be built on the site of a former north-east school under a masterplan mapping out its future.
The old Ellon Academy was demolished in 2017, after pupils started attending a £36 million replacement on the outskirts of the Aberdeenshire town.
The local authority has been working on a masterplan to decide what should be built on the grounds of the disused site to the north of Schoolhill Road for years.
Following a great deal of effort, including consultation with local residents, a final proposal for the future of the land has now been created – and councillors have been urged to rubber-stamp the plans next week.
The masterplan contains three distinct areas, one dedicated to residential development, another which will include a health centre, and a final section which will include office and community facilities, as well as homes.
A report said the project has been “informed by an in-depth study of the history of Ellon town centre and its main assets and features”.
It added that the plan provides “a vision as to how the site can be a contributor towards a revitalised Ellon town centre”.
