A north-east Childline counsellor spent two days knitting before running round her garden to raise £600 for the charity.
Evelyn Hart, a volunteer at Childline Aberdeen, had signed up for the 5km run which would have been held in the grounds of the Balmoral estate as part of a challenge to raise £1,600.
She intended to complete the event dressed as a “Pantosaurus” – which is a large yellow dinosaur which fronts an NSPCC awareness-raising campaign about sexual abuse.
However, after the event was cancelled, she was determined that she’d still raise money for the charity.
The mum-of-three knitted a “dinosaur head” and took to her garden in Portlethen where she ran 5km in 46 minutes – and streamed the effort live on Facebook for her friends and family to see.
Ms Hart also did the 5k fundraiser as part of a challenge to mark her 50th year.
She said: “Childline provides such an important service for children and I know the money brought in through fundraising is so important, and so I was really keen to still do something.
“And when Matt, the Aberdeen NSPCC fundraising manager, suggested I do it virtually, I joked that I would just have to make a Pantosaurus outfit because I couldn’t get hold of the real one – and that felt like a challenge.”
