A north-east woman is helping sheltered housing residents from her rainbow badge profits.
Angie Black, from Stuartsfield, has been making rainbow badges and the profits are being used to buy essentials for Crichie Court residents.
Mrs Black said: “I was so proud of all the kids in the village who I know very well through working for the school and how well they are coping. It was so lovely to see all the rainbows they’ve made hung in their windows.
I felt compelled to make these badges for them in return for a small donation so that we could also give to the residents at Crichie Court.”
Mrs Black said she’ll continue making the badges “for as long as people want them.” She said: “I’ve even provided badges to some NHS frontline workers so I feel I am making a difference albeit a small one.”
She has made around 40 badges so far and is awaiting a delivery to make another 32. She said: “I hadn’t expected my badges to do so well I had initially thought my friends would maybe want some but they’ve traveled to Edinburgh, Glasgow and even Norway.”
The wider community is also offering support through the formation of the Crichie (Village) Cares which was set up the week before lockdown to help the locals to cope with self- isolation.
A spokeswoman for Criche (Village) Cares said a cross and tick poster system is being used for volunteers check on a daily basis during their daily walks.
She said: “If a resident needs our help, such as a prescription collection or a food shop, they can contact the co-ordinators by phone or they have the option of contacting the assistance hub if they prefer a central response.”
