The family of a north-east-born farmer are celebrating his 95th birthday this weekend from afar due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Alexander Pearce Taylor, known to his friends and family as Pearce, will turn 95 years old tomorrow.
Mr Taylor grew up at the family farm of Stoneyhill at Longhaven, between Cruden Bay and Hatton, alongside his brother Jim and sister Margaret.
He and his brother Jim farmed around Aberdeenshire for many years, and were frequent visitors to Thainstone Mart prior to their retirement.
Mr Taylor retired alongside his wife of 64 years Margaret to Clackmannanshire 26 years ago, and still has the Press and Journal delivered to his home every week to keep up with the farming community in his homeland.
His family have said it will be tough marking his 95th birthday from a safe distance this year.
Mr Taylor’s daughter Elaine said: “It’s been really quite difficult, but we really want to say a big happy birthday to Dad this year, he’s got so many friends around the north-east and I’m sure they’ll be wishing him well too.”
