A north-east charity has refused to let coronavirus halt its biggest weekend of the year by taking its flagship show online.
Thousands gather at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom each year to watch Friends of Anchor’s annual Courage on the Catwalk and Brave events.
Under normal circumstances, each of the 48 first-time models – every one of whom as faced their own cancer and haematology diagnosis – would take to the catwalk for a professional fashion show.
But due to the world’s on-going health crisis the charity has been forced to mark the occasion digitally.
Models, organisers and event partners raised a toast at a virtual celebration before taking on a Brave-themed quiz and tackling a catwalk challenge.
The glitzy occasions have raised more than £1 million since Courage of the Catwalk was launched in 2013.
Friends of Anchor chairman, Jim Milne, said: “We were all deeply saddened when we had to postpone these special shows but we couldn’t let the dates pass without marking them in some way.
“It was great to see so many of the models getting involved and having a good time and we’re looking forward to the real thing when we’re able to safely set a new date.”
Those wishing to support Friends of Anchor’s fundraising efforts can text BRAVE to 70085 to donate £5 towards that event, or COURAGE to 70085 to donate £5 to Courage on the Catwalk.
