Residents of Stonehaven and the surrounding area are being urged to step up to get the local community council back together.
The Stonehaven and district group folded earlier this year after several members stepped down at the annual meeting.
Seven members were elected to replace them, five short of the 12 needed and the community council was forced to disband.
Efforts are now being made to re-establish the group, which would involve Aberdeenshire Council organising an election.
In order for this to happen, 20 people would have to put themselves forward.
Candidates must be a resident and on the electoral roll, or own a business within the area. They must also be proposed and seconded by people who meet the same criteria.
Nominations are available from council offices, schools, Stonehaven library, leisure centre and community centre or by calling 01569 768206.
Completed forms must be returned by 5pm on June 6 to William Munro, Kincardine and Mearns area manager, Aberdeenshire Council, Viewmount, Arduthie Road, Stonehaven, AB39 2DQ.
