A Peterhead DJ will hold a final fundraising music set this weekend to provide frontline workers with PPE.
David Henderson, from Peterhead, only intended to have one DJ set via Facebook live but now he has raised almost £17,000 since his first ever show last month and hopes to rake in more donations “at the grand finale”.
Hundreds of people have tuned in live every Saturday night with many saying it’s been the “highlight of their week” throughout lockdown. His shows have attracted viewers in places as far away as Australia and Abu Dhabi.
For his final show this week, Mr Henderson will play a 12 hour set from noon to midnight on Saturday from Wheelie World in Peterhead which “will feature a mixture of all the different songs” from the weekly shows.
Various local businesses including Peterhead Motors and Bill Mackie Engineering are also sponsoring the event.
Mr Henderson said: “It’ll be a long day but it’ll be worth it for the grand finale.” The 39-year-old has 25 years of experience as a DJ but the weekend lockdown shows have been the first time he’s aired his shows online.
The money raised through PayPal stays local and initially the funds raised helped to provide Peterhead Hospital staff with PPE and recently the donations have been used to provide local care home staff with PPE as well.
