Bookworms from across Aberdeenshire have picked up prizes after completing a reading challenge.
Live Life Aberdeenshire’s digital library services noted a “surge” in use during the Winter Word Reading Challenge at the turn of the year.
The challenge attracted 1,000 local readers taking part individually, together as a family or as a group of friends.
Those taking part picked up an entry card from their local library then completed various challenges which encouraged both physical and digital reading.
Of the 954 people who signed up to the challenge, more than 45% completed it and submitted their entry card into the prize draw.
Prizes included a pass to Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park; a family pass to Landmark, Aviemore; a Mackie’s of Scotland Hamper of goodies and Grampian Transport Museum family membership.
Thanks to the challenge, Aberdeenshire libraries recorded an increase in borrowing of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers.
