People in a north-east village rallied together to celebrate a youngster’s 10th birthday – after a dramatic trip to hospital the night before.
Logan Hunter from Cruden Bay was surprised when villagers gathered outside his house to sing happy birthday to him on Monday.
It came just hours after Logan was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with an irregular heart beat.
His mum Fiona Laird said it was the third time he had gone to hospital with the problem, which is still being investigated.
“The first time it happened seven months ago it was really scary,” she said. “You can see his heart beating really quickly and he loses the colour in his face and he starts sweating profusely.”
Normally, Logan would have spent the night at hospital, however, NHS staff were able to stabilise his heart and allowed him to go home to celebrate his birthday.
Miss Laird praised the “fantastic” staff and those in Cruden Bay who rallied round to cheer Logan up on Monday.
Lynda Thompson, who is involved with the Doorstep Diaries Cruden Bay project, said Logan’s face had been “priceless” when the group began to sing.
“We thought it would be nice to wish him a happy birthday and put a shout out on the page and six or seven people showed up. This project has been fantastic, it’s really brought people together.”
