Plans to build a new primary school in Tillydrone have been backed by councillors.
Members of Aberdeen’s planning committee unanimously voted through proposals for a replacement Riverbank School this morning.
The new school, planned for the site of the former Tillydrone and St Machar primaries, could open by 2022.
With space for 650 pupils and 100 nursery-aged children, the Coningham Gardens facility will also include a multi-use 3G sports pitch, an outdoor classroom and dining area, and a sensory garden.
The existing Riverbank School was formed in a merger of St Machar and Donbank in 2008 and has a roll of around 380 pupils and 80 places in its nursery.
Aberdeen City Council’s planning committee met this morning via video call, with a record of the meeting to be made available to the public and press later.
