A farm shop which helped locals keep fresh food on the table during lockdown has closed its doors for now to “re-evaluate” its future as shoppers begin returning to the supermarket.
The Devenick Dairy’s Tin Coo farm shop and cafe refocused on providing grocery delivery and collection services once lockdown restrictions came into force.
Initially, the shop at Banchory Devenick was very busy with orders, but Tin Coo director Becky Groat said that as restrictions eased last week, customers are going elsewhere.
Mrs Groat said although the business is grateful for the loyal customers who have kept up their orders, the loss of orders has forced the Tin Coo team to shut down for now.
She said “With the slight easing of lockdown and people feeling more comfortable with going out to the supermarkets and increased availability of food, the number of orders we were getting has just dropped too much to keep it going at the moment.
“Myself, my husband and the staff who have continued to work through all this are a bit gutted that we’ve gone from being so busy to having such a steep drop in orders.
“We still can’t open as a cafe, so right now we’re shutting down at the moment to give us time to re-evaluate and see where we can go from here.”
