Aberdeenshire swimming ace Hannah Miley is one of many famous sportswomen to wish Aberdeen school pupils good luck ahead of their first ever online sports day.
A squad of international stars have shown their support for pupils at St Margaret’s School with a series of inspirational messages to motivate them ahead of the event.
Olympic swimmer Miss Miley, ex-Scotland hockey captain Sam Judge and Scotland’s international football team captain Rachel Corsie, who is from Aberdeen, have got involved.
Last year Aberdeen’s only all-girls school cancelled sports day due to the bad weather and this year it fell victim to coronavirus.
However, head of PE Karen Norval said: “We wanted to make this sports day as fun and inclusive as possible, so we have designed a programme of activities that everyone can take part in at home, whatever the weather.”
Ms Norval said the messages of support from the sportswomen have been “fantastic” and will “provide a real boost for the girls” as they limber up to take part.
Activities such as the Great St Margaret’s Bake Off, the House Crest Challenge and Staff Challenges will take place throughout the day before the winning house is announced.
Pupils have continued PE at home by recording themselves performing, and then uploading their activities to the virtual classroom for assessment by teachers.
