The artists behind the Sketch n the City project have unveiled a sneak preview of their Aberdeen blueprint.
Carl Lavia and Lorna Le Bredonchel refused to let lockdown get in the way of their ambitious plan to sketch 69 UK cities and have now shared their progress on their Granite City piece.
Although coronavirus has prevented them from visiting Aberdeen, businesses have been providing photos and this in a way has made the sketch much more detailed.
Sketch artist Mr Lavia, who has previously visited Aberdeen, said: “Because of lockdown we’ve been contacting businesses to provide images so there has been a bit more of an individual focus and there is a real feel for the city.
“You can see the fine details of the streets and some of the houses. This drawing has taken the longest and is the most detailed and intricate of the cities.
“Aberdeen is one of the best cities I’ve been to, it was fascinating to research and look at the different views – I got a real feel for the city.”
Mr Lavia’s favourite building to draw has been Marischal College and he said he wants to “highlight” the architecture of the city while shining the light on the oil and gas industry, shipping and the docks, the football stadium, industrial buildings and the theatre.
The finished project will be the sixth Scottish cityscape completed by the pair and will showcase three miles of the Granite City.
The artists are hoping it will be completed this year.
