NHS Grampian’s chief executive is to retire at the end of this year.
Professor Amanda Croft formally took on the role last April, having been with the north-east health board for 20 years.
The former nurse’s departure will come just over two years after she took on the top job on an interim basis to replace predecessor Malcolm Wright.
NHS Grampian will “shortly” launch the search for Ms Croft’s replacement, who is expected to work alongside her for a period to ensure a “smooth transition”.
The outgoing boss revealed her intention to step down in around six month’s time in a message to staff.
She wrote: “Announcements like this would not normally be made this early, but the times we find ourselves in are far from normal.
“I am absolutely committed to leading our organisation through the coming months as we adjust to living with Covid-19.
“I am incredibly proud of you all and the way we have worked together recently to meet the challenges of this pandemic.”​
