A new series of short films have been released online to compensate for the loss of a popular Aberdeen art festival this year.
A premiere of the short stories, entitled Tales of Silver City, was hosted yesterday by Aberdeen Art Gallery and a Q&A session with the filmmakers will take place on Sunday.
The series is made up of five short films written and directed by Ukrainian duo Kristina Borhes and Nazar Tymoshchuk.
They were filmed during last year’s Nuart Festival having been commissioned by the event’s curator, Martyn Reed.
He said: “The film now forms part of what we’re calling ‘Nuart lockdown edition’, a series of events and projects that we hope bring some relief to the current situation.
“I have a lot of love for Aberdeen, we have some incredibly supportive friends and organisations in town, and we’re honoured to add Aberdeen Art Gallery to the list – a stunning addition to the city’s cultural life.”
Tales of Silver City portrays Aberdeen as five separate fictional cities and is inspired by Italo Calvino’s 1972 novel, Insvisible cities.
Mr Reed added: “I gave the film makers carte blanche to explore the myths and magic behind the city.
“They bring a very special eye and aesthetic to the city which I’m sure many will recognise, but also be surprised by.”
The Thursday night premier and Sunday night screening can be accessed on the Nuart Facebook page.
