Angry residents near a locked-down Aberdeen sports ground have voiced their disgust at youths flouting physical distancing rules to gather there.
Those living near Rubislaw playing fields have watched large groups of youngsters congregating in the rugby stand to drink alcohol.
They also report many are using the back of the stand as a toilet, while others have been seen clambering on the roof.
Hazlehead, Queen’s Cross and Countesswells councillor Martin Greig said: “These young people don’t seem to appreciate the danger they are putting themselves in.
“It is hard to maintain the isolation but this is to protect each other and those we come into contact with – it is totally unacceptable.
“Gathering together is hazardous but this has been made worse by climbing on the building, disturbing the area and leaving large amounts of litter in the playing field.”
Police last night said they were now investigating after damage was caused to the cricket pitch in the ground on Tuesday evening, which remains locked-down due to government rules.
Whinhill-based Sergeant Julie Smith said officers were aware of a number of reports relating to youths gathering in the area of the playing fields in the past few weeks.
She said: “Officers are aware of these recent reports and the area is one which they focus on when on patrol.”
She added officers were working with the council, which owns the ground, and urged people to call police as antisocial behaviour is happening so they could intervene at the time.
