A new festival celebrating Aberdeen’s Torry community will be launched online this weekend.
Aabody’s Torry takes place from noon-8pm on Sunday, and will feature live and prerecorded content for people of all ages to enjoy.
Some of the contributing organisations will be raising funds for their initiatives as the festival will also be an opportunity to support local groups.
It has been organised by Greyhope Bay, an organisation aiming to breathe new life into Torry Battery, and Cultivate Aberdeen, which provides food-growing and sustainable practice education and facilities to communities across Aberdeen from their edible garden at St Fitticks.
Fiona McIntyre, founder of Greyhope Bay, said she arranged the festival in the hope of promoting the area.
She said: “It came out of having conversations with community organisations.
“There was a really positive vibe and we decided to do something online as we wanted to promote Torry.
“We’re hoping to bring some joy, to celebrate the community and create some awareness about the many different community groups doing good things in the area.
“There will be a real mix of events on offer, so there should be something for quite a few different audiences.
“It could be a yearly event if it goes well – not online next time but a physical event. It would be great to keep it up.”
Greyhope Bay will be sharing a screening of a Discovery Channel documentary, The Story of Plastic, to educate people about the impact of plastic on marine life around the world and what changes people can make to help.
A cuppa and Q&A session will be held by Cultivate Aberdeen to provide advice and answer questions on gardening at home.
Big Noise will be hosting a live music event, while other classes available include yoga, crafting tutorials, a Dolphinwatch Q&A and a Torry storytelling session.
The event will be promoted across social media using the hashtag #aabodystorry and a full schedule of events and timings can be found at aabodystorry.com
