An Aberdeen school teacher and fitness instructor has completed a fundraising cycling challenge.
Claire McIntosh cycled 1,083 miles, the distance from Lands End to John O’ Groats, without taking a day off, completing The Conqueror Virtual Challenge in just 47 days.
Mrs McIntosh was at the end of her maternity leave during lockdown and wanted to take on a project that would challenge her while she delivered online lessons.
She said: “I wanted to take on a fitness challenge to raise money for NHS Charities due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I also wanted to inspire people to try and think about things they can do from home during this strange time.
“Having no rest days was tough but I knew that if I missed a day I would be further behind on the leaderboard.
“They give you 84 days to complete it. I wasn’t expecting to, but I managed it in 47 days.
Mrs McIntosh has spent the past nine years raising money for Cancer Research in memory of her mum and gran.
After her one-year-old daughter, Alice, was born 10 weeks premature, she also began fundraising for Friends of the Neonatal Unit.
The music and additional support needs teacher works across Aberdeen and is now planning a 10k a day challenge in July.
