North-east tourism chiefs have taken part in a virtual trade show to spark international interest in visiting the region once travelĀ restrictions are lifted.
The Visit Britain event brought representatives for UK destinations together along with industry suppliers, venues, hotels and other companies in a digital conference.
The event was geared toward the American market, with appointments late into the night designed to cater to varying time zones.
Head of the convention and events bureau for Visit Aberdeenshire, Laurie Scott, said it is now more important than ever to promote the area as a place to stage business gatherings.
He said: āThis yearās event was unlike previous versions for obvious reasons, but it is more important than ever to promote Aberdeenās business events capacity on an international scale.
āWeāre taking part in events like this to keep the city front of mind when buyers are contemplating future events.
āAs the business events space evolves in response to Covid-19, virtual exhibitions are a suitable temporary means of meeting, but the sector genuinely looks forward to meeting in person when it is possible to do so.”
The showās digital format will be repeated on Wednesday with appointments targeted to European and UK buyers.
Mr Scott added: āWe will be meeting with UK and European representatives and we look forward to further highlighting Aberdeen as a host city to the global events industry.ā
