Boddam residents are to be consulted on measures Aberdeenshire Council hopes will deal with problem parking.
Locals have made numerous complaints to the authority about “inconsiderate” drivers who have been leaving vehicles near junctions in the village.
The council’s Buchan area committee discussed the concerns during an online meeting yesterday and agreed to consult on potential solutions.
Officials will first contact interested parties such as the emergency services, community councils, the Road Haulage Association and others.
This will be followed by a 21-day public consultation, with notices erected at the affected locations.
The council is proposing additional double yellow lines be introduced at junctions along Station Road, Seaview Road and Harbour Street with the aim of improving visibility and the flow of traffic.
Speaking after the meeting, chairman Norman Smith said he was hopeful the plan would “sort out most of the problems”.
The report to councillors indicates the proposed new road markings would come at a cost of about £1,500.
The scheme would be funded from the Buchan area road maintenance revenue budget 2020/21.
Peterhead South and Cruden councillor Alan Fakley, who said there were “already a few ‘no waiting’ areas in the village”, added: “The consultation period has been authorised to let us address the inconsiderate parking in Boddam.”
