Representatives from the Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to Inspire Bredero Drive in Banchory in February. They found it demonstrated “major strengths”, empowering people to make choices and meeting their needs throughout the day. All staff had undertaken dementia training and were commended for their efforts in creating a “light-hearted, relaxed and friendly” atmosphere. They were also praised for including residents, and occasionally their families, in the planning process. The four-person bungalow was ranked “very good” – the second-highest of the watchdog’s ratings. Its report said: “Some housemates had formed close friendships, and we saw that they laughed and joked together. “Likewise, relatives and family members felt free to drop by and join in the evening chatter.”
