An Aberdeen man has been jailed for shoplifting and shouting racist abuse at staff.
Marc McKenzie, of Gerrard Street, became aggressive after staff in Morrison’s stopped him on suspicion of having stolen two bottles of wine.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard he started shouting and swearing at staff and uttering racist remarks during the incident on February 27.
Fiscal depute Lucy Simpson told the court that McKenzie struck again on June 16 – this time assaulting a member of staff at Poundland on Union Street.
Ms Simpson said he had grabbed Roxanne Don by the shoulders and she lost her balance by the force and fell over. He then continued to shout and swear at her.
The court heard McKenzie, who appeared from custody via video link, also broke his bail conditions twice and acted in a “racially aggravated manner” towards two people on June 13.
McKenzie previously admitted all five charges against him.
His solicitor Lynn Bentley said all of the matters related to his “over consumption of alcohol” and he accepted he would be receiving a custodial sentence.
Sheriff William Summers sentenced McKenzie to 250 days in jail.
