A charity service that helps young people from the Huntly area secure employment has received thousands of pounds of support from the Clashindarroch Wind Farm’s community fund.
The Rural Steps project, based in Huntly, is run by Barnardo’s Scotland and helps those aged between 16 and 29 who are currently not in education, training or employment to achieve their goals.
It has received £4,370 from the fund, which was established by the wind farm’s owner Vattenfall.
The cash will be used by Barnardo’s Scotland to buy ten laptops and 4G adaptors to help young people using the service to continue their learning at home, and improve their skills with digital technology.
Vicky Briggs, a support worker for Rural Steps, said: “This grant will help us to significantly improve the services and support we can offer to young people in Huntly and the surrounding rural areas.
“Many young people we support have no access to laptops or personal computers, making job and college applications, CV-writing and creative digital activities almost impossible.”
