A north-east man is exceeding expectations as he walks 10,000 steps a day in a fundraising challenge for Cancer Research UK.
When the golf season ended for Arthur Finnie from Mintlaw last September, he set himself the task.
Initially, the 72-year-old decided he’d raise £250 for the charity in memory of his friends John Taylor and Sandy Gerrard as well as his 50-year-old nephew Terry Findlay.
But during lockdown it took a twist, as he had to complete the challenge from home while his wife has been shielding – and has now tallied about nearly four million steps.
He said: “Before lockdown, I was reaching my target most days before lunch time with walks in the park.
“In lockdown, while my wife has been shielding, I’ve been keeping track of my steps from home.”
