Aberdeenshire Council is facing renewed pressure to “justify” the decision to axe a school bus service.
Kingseat residents received a letter from the council last week advising them that children will have to make their own way to Newmachar Primary School more than a mile away.
However, parents hit out with claims the path to the school was “dangerous” due to its proximity to a 60mph road and an electric fence.
Now, Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin has written to the council for “clarity” on why the decision to remove the bus was taken.
She added: “Although there is a path that runs between Kingseat and Newmachar, the parents are concerned about there being some potential hazards along the way.”
Last week, Aberdeenshire Council stressed the path was safe – and that a review by a qualified road safety auditor found it was in good condition and fit for purpose.
