A dog was recovering at home today after being rescued following a clifftop fall on the outskirts of Aberdeen.
Winston (pictured), a German pointer, became stranded at a beach at Findon late last night and was the focus of a highly-technical rescue by HM Coastguard.
Crews were alerted amid concerns that Winston’s owner would attempt to reach the animal.
One member of the coastguard’s cliff team abseiled down the cliff face with support crews from the RNLI on the shore as back-up.
Winston was scooped into a courier-style bag made specifically for animal rescues and then hoisted back up to his owners.
A spokesman for HM Coastguard Aberdeen said: “We do these operations from time to time. We decided that because of the falling light and the difficult terrain that a cliff rescue would work best.”
Coastguard crews from Montrose and Stonehaven also attended with RNLI support from Aberdeen.
