Changes are being introduced to allow more bookings at Aberdeenshire recycling centres.
From tomorrow, slots will be halved from 30 minutes to 15 minutes to reduce queue lengths, and more will be made available at Insch and Portsoy.
Aberdeenshire Council says the majority of visitors have been completing their trips within this time frame already.
Further changes to the service will come into force on Saturday aimed at helping people requiring multiple visits in quick succession, such as those completing home or garden renovations.
Rather than only allowing two visits per week, this will be expanded to eight over a four-week period.
Additionally, pedestrians will have access to some centres from 12-12.30pm every day without having to pre-book, beginning on Saturday.
This will cover Portsoy, Insch, Westhill, Fraserburgh, Huntly, Turriff and Laurencekirk.
Claire Loney, the local authority’s reprocessing and disposal manager, said: “These changes aim to address more specific needs and offer greater flexibility for the public.
“These new arrangements are a step closer towards ‘normality’, and we hope they are met with the same success as previously plans.
“The booking system will remain in place for the time being to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and I would like to thank residents for their continued support and patience as we enter this new stage.”
Bookings can be made via aberdeenshire.gov.uk or by calling 03456 081 207.
