Dozens of people have gathered along an Aberdeen river to watch as rescuers attempt to save a seal that appeared to be stuck in the water.
Police and the SSPCA were in attendance at the scene after fears that the mammal had found itself in trouble along the stretch near Duthie Park.
However once specialists arrived on scene they found the seal “swimming freely”.
Senior animal rescue officer Kyle McWhirr for the SSPCA said, “We were alerted to a possible trapped seal on 11 August.
“However, when I attended the seal was swimming freely with no sign of injury.
“The seal has been in the area for a few weeks and seems to be in good health.
“If anyone has concerns about an animal they should call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
Three individuals on paddle boards could also be seen keeping an eye on its progress from the water.
Waiting anxiously on the bridge above were a number of Aberdonians hoping the animal finds its way to safety.
