A group of youngsters reported themselves to the police after broken glass was found on a north-east football pitch.
AC Mill Inn, who play their home matches at Mineralwell Park in Stonehaven, posted on social media that the pitch has recently been plagued with litter and petty vandalism.
They claim the latest incident has resulted in a bottle being smashed and spread across the goalmouth on Friday night.
The post read: “I’m sure anybody reading this is probably aware of the damage to persons this could cause but to be clear, a goalkeeper diving onto glass would certainly be a trip to the hospital and perhaps not just an A&E trip.”
The team later published an update online stating all girls have self reported to police.
The post said: “On top of domestic punishments meted out by the families they will be helping with litter picking at the pitch for the next 4 weeks. A result for the CCTV and, hopefully, a message for the kids that we’ll take action when the pitch is damaged.
Thanks for everyone who shared and helped find them.”
