Four fire crews tackled a wildfire in the north-east yesterday.
Two appliances from Fraserburgh, one from Macduff and a water carrier from Turriff were sent to Windyhead woods – between Pennan and New Pitsligo – around 12.45pm.
Around 17 firefighters used water sourced from Pennan to extinguish the flames, which had taken hold of an area of trees and bushes measuring 650ft by 330ft.
It is understood the fire started with controlled burning as part of a tree felling scheme. The flames spread when wind blew through the site.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze was under control by 3.15pm.
No one was injured in the incident, and no properties were damaged.
