The blaze started in the front entrance of the Platform One bar, Guild Street, next to the Trinity Centre. Guild Street was closed for around an hour while nine firefighters extinguished the flames. Two appliances from the Central Fire Station were called to the scene around 4pm. A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service said the crews also assisted the Station Hotel which had become “smoke-logged”. The hotel did not need to be evacuated however.
