An Ellon police officer is to go on trial later this month accused of assaulting and abducting a man from an address in Aberdeenshire.
The case against Ian Ivancic called at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday for a preliminary hearing where his solicitor entered a not guilty plea to two charges.
Ivancic is accused of assaulting Niall Corbett in Newburgh’s Chapelwell Drive on February 9 last year.
It is further alleged he pushed Mr Corbett against a police van before repeatedly punching him on the head.
The 45-year-old community beat officer is also charged with abducting his alleged victim by bundling him into the police vehicle and driving off.
The case against Ivancic, whose address was given in court papers as care of professional standards department, Police Scotland, Queen Street, Aberdeen, will go to trial on June 17.
