With business already blighted by the pandemic, an award-winning Aberdeen cafe has suffered another blow amidst recent bad weather.
The Highlander Cafe bus, which sits on Aberdeen’s beach boulevard, has been forced to close its doors once more after high winds tore into it.
They stripped-off the roof of the shed housing the business’ generator and with more bad weather forecast repairs may take some time.
Another trailer operator broke the bad news to owner Ramona Obafemi on Tuesday evening.
She rushed down to the beach to secure what was left of the shed with a series of ropes bemoaning the fact that a structure that has faced its fare share of bad weather had finally succumbed.
She said: “Its a shame that we will have to close up shop again until the weather dies down and we can get in to try and fix it.
“We have had a hard time during the lockdown and this is just another one of those things that we will have to deal with.
“The cafe has still been busy on some days, but in August you would expect we would be enjoying the best weeks of the year.
“But with the two lockdowns the city has experienced, it has become a battle to survive until the end of the year.
Like many other business owners in the city, Ms Obafemi has supported a petition calling for the extension of the Eat out to Help out scheme in Aberdeen.
The Highlander Cafe bus announced on Facebook that they expect to reopen tomorrow.
