Plans have been lodged to preserve a historic building on Aberdeen’s Union Street.
They would result in the refurbishment and replacements of windows and a roof dormer and the removal of a chimney at The Essence Indian Cuisine restaurant.
Aberdeen-firm GPA Humphries, acting on behalf of local owners First Management GB, submitted the plans for the three-storey building, at the corner of Bon Accord Terrace, to Aberdeen City Council planning chiefs yesterday.
If approved, pitched roofs could be added to the roof’s dormer windows similar to those in place when the building was the old Boot’s pharmacy, with the George Hotel above.
In addition, more than a dozen windows would be upgraded using either traditional sash and case replacements or, where that’s not possible, more modern double-glazed units.
