A mum and daughter competition-winning duo will enjoy a special meal out to share the prize money from the Press and Journal’s latest competition.
Judith Grant, of Auchleven, near Insch, won our word game competition this week, scoring the maximum 27 points for finding the words “reporting”, “consonant” and “pineapple” within the letters presented.
Mrs Grant, 45, will share the winnings with her 77-year-old mum Wilma Reid, of Buckie.
She said: “My mum gave me the details to enter the competition so I think I had better take her out for a meal and spread out the winnings with her.
“We did joke that we would split the winnings if we won. She gave me the information I needed so it’s really down to her.”
The housewife, who has two daughters aged 14 and 17 with husband Gordon, who is an engineer at Ardmore Distillery, credited her mum’s love of puzzles for the competition win where she scooped £100 in prize money.
“Mum does all the little puzzles,” Mrs Grant added.
“Especially when it was during lockdown it really kept her occupied.
“Puzzles are her thing, so it’s definitely only fair she gets to benefit from the winnings. I’m not sure where we’ll go yet, but I’ll definitely treat her to a nice meal.”
The Press and Journal word game runs each Wednesday, competitors with the highest count of long-lettered words are entered into a prize draw.
