A whisky worker has nearly completed a 200 mile charity run as part of wider efforts to raise £50,000 for charity.
Andrew Lennie, from Leith in Edinburgh, is running 200 miles over eight weeks around the capital – the equivalent of running the return trip between the city and Fettercairn Distillery who he works for as a brand specialist.
Mr. Lennie is running the gruelling distance in order to raise funds for Scotland’s Association for Mental Health (SAMH.)
Now lockdown restrictions have been eased – he hopes he can now run towards Fettercairn.
Mr Lennie said: “Sadly everyone in the world is affected in some way by issues surrounding mental health, whether it’s affecting them personally or their friends or family.
“I have known people who have lost their lives far too young and this challenge is a small step in the right direction of change.
“I am hoping now that restrictions are being lifted, I can incorporate some runs over the Forth Bridge and Tay Bridge, a run in the town where I grew up and hopefully a run up to Fettercairn itself on the return leg.”
He added: “I’ve noticed the positive impact this challenge has had on my own mental health and that’s what motivates me to get back out and get going on the days which are physically tough.”
