The date has been set for a by-election to be replace an Aberdeenshire councillor who vacated his seat after becoming MP for Gordon in last year’s Westminster elections.
Richard Thomson had been one of the Ellon and District ward’s four ward councillors prior to usurping Colin Clark in December.
The by-election will be held on Thursday, October 15, and an electronic count will take place the following day.
Mr Thomson resigned as a councillor in April after being sworn in as an SNP MP for Gordon.
He had served on the local authority since 2012.
The ward’s other councillors are Isobel Davidson, Anouk Kloppert and Gillian Owen.

It gives prospective candidates little more than a fortnight to register their applications to stand.
The nominations deadline will pass at 4pm on Monday, September 14.
Polls will open for the vacant seat on Thursday, October 15, with further information to follow on polling venues.
Applications to register to vote at the election must reach the electoral registration officer at the council’s Woodhill House headquarters by Thursday, September 29.
Online applications to register can be made at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and the deadline to sign up for a proxy vote is Wednesday, October 7, while those wishing to enter a postal vote must register to do so by Wednesday, September 30.
