A scarecrow that was stolen from an Aberdeenshire art event has been returned.
Westhill Art Group placed 18 of the life-size figures around the town earlier this week as part of the town’s gala week celebrations.
But one – a bright pink, pig named “Pigsby” – was taken on Sunday night from his post near the Holiday Inn in Westhill Drive.
Yesterday, organisers shared their delight at him being found in Inverurie.
Rosemary Murray, 72, of the group, said: “We are delighted that Pigsby has been found and he will return for Saturday’s gala event with star status.
“The trail went ahead on Monday anyway and was a great success – we will definitely be back next year.
“”We hope that it will become part of the gala week.”
The art project is a sub-group of the Westhill and Elrick Comunity Council and have installed a large compass sculpture in the town with more pieces in the pipeline.
Police Scotland confirmed that the scarecrow had been found and that a 26-year-old man had been warned about the disappearance.
The best scarecrow and the best trail entry winner are due to be announced on Saturday at the gala.
