A woman in her 40s was taken to hospital after her car hit a lamp post on the outskirts of Aberdeen tonight.
It happened at 7.40pm on the roundabout at the end of Lang Stracht, where the A944 meets Skene Road.
The light blue Renault Laguna ended up on the traffic island at the start of Skene Road as a police car, with its blue lights flashing, blocked the outside lane to traffic heading towards Hazlehead.
Whereas the lamp post was only superficially damaged the car’s engine compartment was caved in and the bonnet crumpled upwards.
The one-vehicle accident happened on a greasy road surface, with a heavy fall of rain following a dry spell.
Police later posted a warning to drivers on social media saying: “Please take care on the roads – dry spell followed by rain means slippery conditions – slow down and increase your stopping distances.”
An ambulance spokesman said: “We took a woman in her 40s to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with non life-threatening injuries.”
Recovery services removed the damaged car from the scene just after 9pm and traffic returned to normal.
