The Grampian Transport Museum in Alford will host its very first vehicle gathering of the season, after a year without an events programme due to the pandemic.
The “Museum Muster” will be held in the visitor attraction’s arena on October 11, with strict social distancing and other safety measures in place.
Mike Ward, the curator of the museum, said the organisation decided to organise the day out following many members and supporters sharing disappointment at not having any opportunities to show off their vintage, classic or specialist cars and motorcycles during lockdown.
Although it will not be a spectator event, members of the public will be welcome to visit and see the vehicles on display for themselves.
Mr Ward said: “2020 has been a difficult year for everybody in the visitor attraction and events sector, so we were very pleased to gain our nationally-recognised good-to-go accreditation for visitor Covid-19 safety and reopen the museum at the beginning of August.
“But unfortunately, we have not been able to run our very popular events programme this year.
“Many of our members and supporters have shared their frustration at having little to no opportunity to bring their prized vehicles and lockdown restorations to the museum, and enjoy a get-together with fellow enthusiasts.
“They have also been asking what they can do to support the museum during this shortened season, and that gave us the idea of the Museum Muster.
“It will be a simple drive-in event where we will park vehicle up in our arena at a safe social distance and owners can visit the museum and perhaps enjoy a picnic lunch, or visit the Traveller’s Rest tea room.”
