A north east cancer charity is feeling the benefit of a recruitment campaign for volunteers, but is still looking for more people to get involved.
CLAN Cancer Support launched their Volunteer Now campaign earlier in the year to try and recruit volunteers for a variety of roles across its nine bases in the north-east.
The campaign saw nearly 50 people express an interest, with 20 of those now completed training or ready to undertake a training programme.
They will join more than 400 other volunteers across the north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland, who give more than 40,000 hours to help the charity each year.
Jane Adams, CLAN’s volunteer co-ordinator, said: “CLAN is extremely privileged in that over the years, the level of support we’ve had from people in the north and north-east has been fantastic and this was reflected in the amount of people who came forward in January.
“It’s great to see people from this now through their training and in their specific role but despite this, we still have a number of positions for support volunteers in north Aberdeenshire available and it would be great to hear from those interested in getting involved with CLAN.”
The charity is acknowledging the important contribution of its volunteers as part of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) Volunteer Week, which runs until tomorrow.
They have recently recognised three of their volunteers with Saltire Awards.
Christina McAllan, Zoe Rozario and Kirsten Knight were each presented with awards for 100 hours voluntary service at the charity’s Chapel Street, Rosemount and Ballater shops.
