A new walking trail has been created to showcase the historic engineering works at Aberdeen Harbour, with some dating back to the 12th Century.
The Institution Of Civil Engineers (Ice) Scotland has developed a guided tour, detailing how the area has grown since its establishment by King David 1st in 1136.
Beginning at an 1842 light tower on Greyhope Bay, the walk takes in views of the harbour’s piers and breakwaters.
It also includes the historic Torry Battery and Girdle Ness lighthouse.
The walk is estimated to take around one-hour to complete, and Ice is also offering guided tours run by volunteers.
Ice Scotland’s education and inspiration co-ordinator, Alison Ward, said: “According to the Guinness Book of Records, Aberdeen Harbour is the oldest existing business in Britain.
“This guide is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the fascinating engineering developments which been made during this time – from the work of legendary engineers Thomas Telford and John Smeaton to the brand new construction under way today.”
