An Aberdeen Scout troop is preparing to celebrate its 95th anniversary, and a half century at its current hut.
The 25th and 25th A Beechgrove troop, which has about 60 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, aged six to 14, is planning an event to bring together members old and new.
Group leader Ian Swan said: “We keep in contact with some former members of the troop, who all have a keen interest in what the Scouts are doing these days. But we’d love to hear from more people who have been involved in the troop through the years.”
The gathering will feature a barbecue, as well as displays of Scout memorabilia, including old logbooks.
The boys will also put up some of the old Scout tents.
The troop was established in 1919. Before the move to Oakhill Crescent Lane in 1964, its previous base was at Hill of Rubislaw on Anderson Drive, close to where the Marathon building now stands, when Rubislaw Quarry was still a working concern.
Members also used the school hall at Mile End School for meetings.
Mr Swan said: “Former members have very fond memories of their time in the organisation and it would be lovely if they could share some of these memories with current group at our anniversary event.”
