A former care home in Banff will be turned into a family home after council planners backed proposals for its change of use.
Valeview Care Home, in the town’s Bridge Street, has lain empty for around three years since the facility, which offered supported living for up to nine adults with learning disabilities, closed.
New owner Arvind Gunput, of Heckmondwike in West Yorkshire, can now turn the three-storey property into a four-bedroom home after Aberdeenshire Council’s planning department gave the plans the go-ahead.
A planning officer added: “The proposal complies with relevant policies contained within the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan 2017. There would be no adverse impact on the vitality and viability of the Banff town centre.”
No physical alterations inside or outside are required and the new home, once work is complete will include four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two studies, kitchen, dining room, games room, three living areas and a store room.
