Plans for a sheltered housing complex in Inverurie could move forward this week.
Councillors have already granted the scheme, on St James Place, planning permission.
Now members of the policy and resources committee are being asked to award the £4.2million contract to Deeside firm Bancon Construction.
The development, opposite Inverurie Hospital, will contain 24 flats, communal and green areas and an 18-space car park.
Members of the Garioch area committee backed the scheme last September despite locals objecting about possible traffic congestion, parking and the design of the building.
NHS Grampian also warned the complex could jeopardise their plans for a £10.8million health facility on a neighbouring site amid concerns about access and the increase in traffic.
Their scheme, which includes plans for a surgery, X-ray facilities and community maternity unit, is still being drawn up but supporters said it would be “blinkered planning” for the council to build a 24-flat complex in the meantime, at the risk of a facility that would serve 75,000 people.
However, the plans cleared their final hurdle in January. Councillors will be asked to award the contract to Bancon when they meet on Thursday.
