Organisers of the north-east’s world famous fire festival have launched an appeal for historic footage of the ceremony.
Stonehaven’s annual fireballs event attracts thousand of visitors every Hogmanay.
A display capturing highlights of the ceremony through the ages is now planned for the town’s 18th-century clock tower, which is currently undergoing £100,000 of restoration work.
The first phase of the facelift was finished just in time for the celebrations last Hogmanay.
In keeping with tradition the B-listed tower returned to service to welcome 2014 with chimes at midnight which also signalled the start of the fireballs ceremony.
Martin Sim, founder member of the Stonehaven Fireballs Association, said the group was interested in finding original historic video footage.
He said: “We are really interested in historic video and film footage as we have a lot from recent years.
“The clock tower is an ongoing project – it has been a stop-start process – but it is nearing completion.
“There is a lot of metal work going on inside.”
