An Aberdeen business has been delivering books and essentials to charities on its unusual motor.
When ASC Tuk Tuk had to put a halt to its popular tours during lockdown, they decided to put their extra time and resources to good use.
Owner Robert Carmichael was inspired when his daughter decided to sell some of her old books.
He said: “Off the back of that, someone saw us selling books and said they had some so I thought we would sell them and collect the money for charity.
“It started off as a shelf of books then a room, then a room and the dining room, and now the garage.
“The number of people that donated books was phenomenal.
“We started to think of local charities and the first one – because we’d seen it highlighted in the papers and on the news – was mental health.”
Mr Carmichael arranged a meeting with Mental Health Aberdeen and had an eye-opening discussion about the struggles many were going through.
As he is also involved with numerous scooter groups, he got other bikers involved in a fundraiser to mark the 70th anniversary of the charity, raising £800.
Around 50 riders completed a 70-mile circuit from the Beach Ballroom through to Banchory and back via Dunecht and Dyce.
After being made redundant from his job in the oil and gas industry, Mr Carmichael continued to sell books.
He added that another positive of the venture was that he was able to interact with a lot of older people who were shielding by providing them with new reading material.
