An Aberdeen sailor is taking part in a Highland endurance walk to raise funds for an armed forces charity.
Royal Navy medical assistant, Scott Wood, 34, will attempt the Lochalsh Dirty 30-mile challenge to generate funds for Help for Heroes.
The seaman aims to the complete the mixed terrain trek in record time.
Mr Scott said: “They say the walk can be completed in roughly 12 hours, but I’m hoping to be done and dusted within nine.
“I love hiking and walking, so I decided to combine this with raising money for a charity that does so much to help injured servicemen and women.
“The route is boggy in places and very hilly. The hardest part is about 20 miles in when we’ll be faced with a Munro. Getting to the top and over the other side will be a big relief.”
The former Hazlehead Academy pupil joined the Royal Navy in 2012 because he wanted to see the world.
“I’m hoping to join my first ship in about six months time and I’m looking forward to fulfilling my ambition to travel and become a more experienced medic.”
