Two independence supporters from the north-east have taken the referendum campaign to new heights – the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Businessman Graeme Hay, 48, and oil worker Garry Ferries, 49, were pictured hoisting the Saltire flag on the summit of Africa’s highest peak at the end of a seven-day climb.
The pair of Yes supporters from Inverurie were raising funds for a local Scottish charity for the deaf and blind.
Mr Hay said: “Many flags and emblems have been raised on Kilimanjaro over the years, but we’re sure this was the first one in support of a Yes vote.
“Mount Kilimanjaro has long been a goal of mine, and I can say with all honesty that this is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.
“Well worthwhile though and for good causes – to raise money for a deserving charity.”
Blair Jenkins, chief executive of Yes Scotland, said: “Scots the world over are finding many and varying ways in which to deliver the independence message, especially in the final 100 days. This was a first, though.”
