On the A952, between Mintlaw and Clola, a 130ft section of road was flooded on both lanes. Warning signs were in place, while police were advising drivers that the road was passable with care. Many minor roads were also hit by flooding, caused by the rain and blocked drains, but all routes remained open. Fire and rescue crews were on standby in the latter stages of the evening, but had not dealt with any incidents by 8.30pm. Forecaster Matt Rowe, of Aberdeen Met Office, said: “For several hours, there were a few heavy thundery showers with flash flooding always a threat. “These were due to ease off in the early hours of Thursday, and result in much calmer weather throughout the north-east during the day. “Some rain will spread to Moray and north Aberdeenshire during the evening, and to many parts of Grampian around dusk.”
